Dark Lady was given a mission by her manager, to improve the way she wrote.  Her reports and documentation were in a style that, perhaps, was too formal, stilted and out of date.

Thinking she might at least write about something which she enjoyed, she started a story about Maul, found the original DMEB, and developed a whole new Alternate Universe.  Short stories developed into a novel, and feedback encouraged more.  Her manager has never read any of her work, and she sincerely hopes he never will, but her reports are much improved.

Her Maul is a Sith warrior with a code of honour instilled into him by his father, and which the evil machinations of Sidious can never undo.  The planet of Maul‘s birth, Iridonia, is harsh, and many eons ago, was subject to a nuclear cataclysm that affects the climate, even ‘today.’

Dark Lady particularly wants to thank MaulMaus for her beta-reading, and Bea T Kay for the same.  Also Redone and saphsaq for discussions about many esoteric matters, which helped to develop the character as a sorcerer and man with a deeply spiritual aspect to him.  For that is what he is, to be so powerful in the Force, even if it is the Dark Force.
